Private-Label Dress Labels and Packaging Checklist

Labels and packaging are part of the product specification, not a final detail to solve after sewing. Early approval helps the factory connect each style, color and size with the correct branding, consumer information and shipment instructions.
01

List every label and branded component

Prepare a component list covering the main brand label, size label, care and composition label, country-of-origin information where required, hangtags, spare-material bags and any retailer-specific identifier.

For each item, state the artwork revision, dimensions, material, color, fold, attachment method and position. Confirm whether the buyer supplies the component or asks the factory to source it.

  • Main brand and size labels
  • Care and fibre-composition label
  • Country-of-origin presentation
  • Hangtags and barcodes
  • Spare beads or materials
  • Retailer-specific identifiers
02

Provide final legal and care text

The brand or importer should supply and approve the exact consumer-facing text, fibre composition, care symbols or wording, languages and responsible-business information required for the destination market.

Do not rely on a visual mockup alone. Send editable artwork or print-ready files together with a typed data schedule so style, color, size and language variations can be checked systematically.

03

Create a style and size artwork matrix

Map each finished style, color and size to the correct labels, hangtags and barcode data. Use stable style numbers that match the purchase order and carton assortment.

Review a physical or photographed pre-production example before the complete quantity is prepared. Check readability, placement, attachment and data—not only logo appearance.

04

Define garment protection and presentation

Explain how each dress should be folded or hung and which garment bag, tissue, protective layer, hanger or support is required. Formal gowns with trains, structured bodices or surface decoration may need different handling from simpler dresses.

Packaging should protect the garment without creating unnecessary pressure, transfer or abrasion. If the selling channel has sustainability or material restrictions, state them before packaging is purchased.

05

Confirm carton assortment and shipping marks

Specify whether cartons are packed by style, color, size ratio or store allocation. Provide approved carton marks and any purchase-order, destination or handling information required by the buyer and logistics plan.

Final requirements vary by market and sales model. This checklist is production-planning information, not legal advice; the buyer and relevant economic operators should verify the rules that apply to the goods and packaging.
